Message | I am looking for information about my dad Bill Bloomer, or William Bloomer. He served in the Korean War with Charles Christian. That's all I can seem to find out. Mr. Christian had left a message on the buddy search a few years back, and unfortunately I didn't find it until today. I tried to email Mr. Christian, but the email came back undelivered. My father never talked about the war... ever. He passed away with all his stories. I would love to hear from someone that knew him. I'm thinking it must have been an awful experience for him to never want to share any of it. I am honored and proud to say my father was a veteran of the Korean War. I just wish I knew a little more about him in those days. If anyone could help me, i would so deeply appreciate it. |

Message | I recently read the article in the Korean War Educator concerning the crash of the Navy transport plane off the Kwajalein Island on Sept. 19, 1950. My father, Robert A. Harsh was aboard that plane. I want to thank Beverly Vancill and all those responsible for the memorial honoring the victims of that crash. I was not quite 3 years old when my father was killed and the details of his death were never made known to me, or to my sister, who was 6 months old. Now I know there is someplace I can go to see his name and know that he will be remembered. He served in the Navy during WW2 and returned to Michigan to complete his education. He played football for Adrian College and upon graduation, took a job as football coach in a small town in SE Michigan (Clinton). He coached and taught 1 year before being called to serve during the Korean War. He never made it to Korea and was killed soon after leaving Michigan. If there is anyone reading this that also lost a loved one aboard that plane, I would like to hear from you. Thank you. |
